Olivier Comte, Gilles Clément: Le Jardin en Mouvement, 2016, France, 52 min, French with Italian subtitles
With his Garden in Motion, Planetary Garden and Third Landscape concept, Gilles Clément – landscape designer, philosopher and lecturer – has questioned the art of gardens in the late 20th century and influenced the field of ecology. From his own secret garden, the Vallée, lost in the middle of the woods in the Creuse area of France, we discover the many creations that are part of Clément long series of landscape designs, these include: the Domaine du Rayol in Provence, the Henri Matisse Park in Lille and the garden on the former military base in Saint-Nazaire. Gardens are seen as places of political utopia where scientific thought is put to work and dreams transport us to other worlds.
Friday, 22 June 2018, at 20.30 (free entrance), the movie, Gilles Clément: Le Jardin en Mouvement, will be screened at the Teatro Garibaldi di Palermo.
The movie will be followed by a Q&A with Coloco, multidisciplinary design studio and Manifesta 12 Participant, and Giuseppe Barbera, professor of agricultural sciences at the University of Palermo.
