The Department of Education at Manifesta 12 announces ‘Fatimide Garden’, a series of Creative Workshops as part of the cultural program ‘Aspettando Manifesta 12′. All workshops are free of charge, and are open to children from 5 up to 10 years old.

‘Fatimide Garden’ at Orto Botanico

‘Fatimide Garden’ workshops at Orto Botanico include a haptic experience and a creative practice for children of Palermo to discover and interact with the plants and flowers inhabiting the Orto Botanico.
After reading selected passages from ‘Fatimide Tales’ at Teatro Garibaldi, children will get to explore the beautiful and variegated garden of Orto Botanico. Finally, they will walk back to Teatro Garibaldi to recreate the plants that have inspired them the most.

In these workshops, kids will meet at the library of Teatro Garibaldi and develop a haptic experience and tactile knowledge of several species of aromatic herb plants. They will then work collaboratively in order to create a vegetable garden with several recycled materials and to revitalise the “secret garden” hidden in the back of the theatre.
