Walking along the main path of the Garden, children will encounter four stations with creative workshops unveiling the projects of Manifesta 12; meanwhile, their parents will be able to go deeper in the artworks of Michael Wang, Alberto Baraya, and Leone Contini, through Speedy Tours led by the Gardeners of Manifesta 12 .

Station 1. Greetings from the Carboniferous Period
Please, take your seat and fasten your seatbelt. You are going to travel 300 million years back, discovering the new Carboniferous Period and mail a postcard to your friends or family. Hundreds of archival images are ready to be cut and glued to make amazing collages that will make us travel in the past, through the gate of the future. The workshop is based on the project The Drowned World by Manifesta 12 participant Michael Wang.

Station 2. New plates from Palermo – come and get it!
What do we mean for botanical plates? We will discover together new curiosities about fruits trees their derivatives, preparing unusual plates with messages, labels, drawings, spot, and stains. At the end of the day, we will create a contemporary collection of plates about the mum and dad’s adventurous “expeditions” to the market and grocery shop. The workshop is based on the project New Herbs from Palermo and Surroundings. A Sicilian Expedition by Manifesta 12 participant Alberto Baraya.

Station 3. The Waterbananmelon
We are looking forward to seeing you join us and invent new fruits and vegetables during a collective drawing session. Through the creation of so-far-unknown hybrids, we will give life to fruits and vegetables never seen before, with strange names and complicated origins, such as Waterbananmelons, Prickly Kiwi-Pears, and Apricherries. The workshop is based on the project Foreign Farmers by Manifesta 12 participant Leone Contini.

Station 4. Exploration by film-roll
Starting from 04.oo pm, join the scavenger hunt to explore the most hidden spots of the Botanical Garden. Each pair – composed by a kid plus an adult – will share a special film disposable camera, typical of the Carboniferous Period. The aim is to discover and learn about marvellous plants by collecting stories and anecdotes connected to the artistic projects of Manifesta in Palermo. Find all the plants requested and you will become a new Gardener of Manifesta!
